8 Days of Color Correction in Resolve

Color correction used to intimidate me. I’d open the color page in DaVinci Resolve, stare at the wheels and scopes, and feel like I was missing some secret knowledge that everyone else had. Turns out, the secret is just doing it every day for a while.

That’s basically what this challenge is about. Eight days, one topic each day, building up from “what is exposure” to “I can make this footage actually look good.” No fluff, just the stuff that matters.

What Each Day Looks Like

Every day covers one specific concept with a short explanation and a practical exercise you can do on your own footage. Here’s the lineup:

• Day 1: Color Correction Fundamentals - exposure, contrast, white balance. The boring stuff that actually makes or breaks everything.
• Day 2: Working with Scopes - waveforms, vectorscopes, histograms. Why they exist and how to read them without wanting to cry.
• Day 3: Primary Adjustments - broad strokes that fix the overall look of your image.
• Day 4: Secondary Adjustments - targeting specific colors or areas without affecting the whole shot.
• Day 5: Skin Tones - getting people to look like people, not aliens or mannequins.
• Day 6: Creative Grading - where you actually make things look cool on purpose.
• Day 7: Matching Shots - making a multi-camera edit look like one cohesive sequence.
• Day 8: Recap - pulling it all together and seeing how far you’ve come.
